About QR Cards

What this tool creates

QR Cards turns a website address or email destination into a downloadable card containing a QR code and readable label. The card can be placed on a sign, handout, presentation, product insert, or printed instruction so a phone can open the destination without manual typing.

Designing a dependable code

Use a complete and final destination, keep strong contrast between the dark code and light background, and leave the clear border around the code intact. Excessive resizing, blur, cropping, or decorative overlays can make scanning unreliable. A physically larger code may be necessary when viewers will scan from farther away.

Test before publishing

Scan the finished card from the actual medium—not only from the on-screen preview. Test more than one phone when the card will be widely distributed. Confirm that a website uses HTTPS and that an email address, subject, or other encoded content is correct. A QR code does not automatically update when the destination changes; generate and distribute a new card when necessary.

Safety and privacy

People cannot determine a QR destination merely by looking at its pattern, so the readable label should accurately describe where it leads. Do not use misleading destinations. Anyone who scans a code containing an email address or other information can access that encoded content, so avoid embedding private details in publicly displayed cards.

Common questions

Does the code expire? A QR image itself does not expire, but the destination can stop working or change. Can it be scanned from another screen? Usually, if contrast, size, focus, and brightness are adequate. Why does printing sometimes fail? Low resolution, glare, folding, damage, or an insufficient quiet border can interfere with recognition. Keep a readable destination near the code so users have an alternative when scanning is unavailable.
