What this tool does
Photo Converter prepares pictures for email, websites, documents, and general sharing. It can resize large camera images and convert common formats, including HEIC or HEIF photos from many phones, into broadly compatible JPEG or PNG files. The original image stays unchanged; the tool creates a new downloadable copy.
Choosing a format
JPEG is usually the best choice for photographs because it produces a much smaller file while retaining natural-looking color. PNG is useful for screenshots, diagrams, text, or images that need transparency, but photographic PNG files can be considerably larger. Converting an image cannot restore detail that was already removed by an earlier low-quality export.
Resizing without distortion
The converter preserves the picture’s aspect ratio, so changing the maximum dimension does not stretch faces or objects. A smaller pixel size generally matters more than a tiny quality adjustment when reducing an attachment. For example, a 4032-pixel phone photo can often be reduced to 1600 pixels on its longest side for an email while still looking sharp on a typical screen.
Privacy and practical limits
Image work is performed in the browser whenever supported. Very large photos may require extra memory and time, especially when decoding HEIC. Check the downloaded result before deleting or archiving an original, and keep the original if you may need to print at a large physical size later.
Common questions
Will conversion improve a blurry picture? No; changing format cannot recreate missing focus or resolution. Why did the file become larger? PNG or a high-quality setting may preserve more data than the source. Does resizing crop the image? The normal resize preserves its proportions rather than cutting off edges. Always open the downloaded copy and confirm its dimensions, orientation, transparency, and visual quality before sharing it.
